Truth, Consequences, and the Future We Leave Our Kids

I know this blog probably will not change the world. It may not even change anything close to home here in Minnesota. But I hope it gives a different perspective. This comes from a biblical worldview and from the heart of an immigrant who still has all his family in South Africa.

Watching what is happening in Minneapolis is frustrating. It is exhausting trying to figure out what is actually true. Fake news, political spin, emotional manipulation, and half truths are everywhere. Everyone has an angle. Everyone has a microphone. And very few people seem interested in the whole story.

The Bible warns us about deception. Not just from media or politics but from Satan himself. You may not believe in Satan or demonic forces, and I am not trying to convince you. But I have personally seen demonic manifestations in different situations in my life. Scripture is clear that the enemy’s goal is division, hatred, and chaos.

And honestly, he is doing a great job.

We are divided. We are angry. We label instead of listening. We pick sides instead of seeking truth. Somewhere along the way, we forgot that every human being is created in the image of God. Every single one. No exceptions.

I will be the first to admit that I fail at this too. I do not always live this out well. That is where repentance and humility have to start. With me.

What amazes me is how inconsistent we have become. On one hand, we stand up for illegal aliens and criminals and say we care about people. On the other hand, we assault ICE workers and celebrate abortion. Somewhere along the line, we started picking and choosing which lives matter. That is not biblical. Either human life has value or it does not. We cannot have it both ways.

When it comes to immigration, I speak as someone who went through the process. There is not a single country in the world that says, “Come on in, no rules, no laws, no process.” Not one. I wish I could tell my family, “Just swim across the river or in their case, the ocean and join me in the USA.” That is not how it works.

South Africa does not hand out citizenship either. You follow the process or you face the consequences. That is true for every nation. And it is true for life in general.

Every action has consequences. Sometimes those consequences are painful. Sometimes they feel unfair. But removing laws and order does not lead to freedom. It leads to chaos.

If we abandon biblical principles, we will not end up in a good place. The Bible teaches that there is always fruit from how we live. Good fruit or bad fruit. We choose.I can say this personally. I have experienced the bitter fruit of my bad decisions, and I have also enjoyed the sweet taste of good fruit. No one is perfect. But today, we will eat the fruit of the decisions we make. Each one of us chooses that for ourselves.

What worries me most is not politics. It is what we are handing to the next generation. What kind of world are we building for our kids? One built on anger, division, and confusion? Or one built on truth, responsibility, mercy, and respect for life?

I want to leave something whole and beautiful behind. Not perfect. But rooted in faith. Rooted in truth. Rooted in the belief that God still cares about people and so should we.

This blog may not change much. But maybe it can slow someone down. Maybe it can challenge us to think deeper. And maybe it can remind us that our battle is not against each other. It is against deception, hatred, and the spiritual forces that love to tear families and nations apart.

We can do better. And it starts with us.
